Our Story

Yupaychay – Quechua network was founded in 2024, but its story begins some years before.

In 2022 travelled Elena and Elwin for the first time together to Peru to visit Elwin’s family. One weekend, there was a fair in the main square of Nuñoa, where local artisans presented their handcrafted products. From all neighboring villages, women and men came to share their goods. The one old man was selling handmade seq’a done from leather, the one woman was offering her homemade traditional kañiwa cookies with cheese, and a group of women’s associations were proudly presenting their handmade clothes. It was astonishing to walk through each stand and touch with the vibrant rural tradition of this community. It was on this occasion that the idea made its way into our minds. The food was so tasty, the smell so intense and the pieces of clothes so unique.

What if we could share this ancient knowledge outside of Peru, combining tradition and modern technology? This is Quechua Network.

Quechua network is the bridge between cultural heritage and the digital world, making wise use of modern tools to preserve, share and exchange knowledge whilst supporting local artisans and families and their folklore. We picture the bridge as bidirectional, such that both worlds can enrich their vision and gain profit from the collaboration. Do you ever wondered how the inka spoke, you are an alpaca breeder and what to learn how to best treat your alpaca in the most natural way, you are interested in learning new techniques for your knitting projects, or maybe you are just passionate about nature, and you want to support sustainable farming in Peru by buying garment to fair prices… Yupaychay – Quechua Network is the bridge to walk!
